In this article we are going to answer the question, how much do veneers cost? There is not always a simple answer, but we are dentists and we care about your interests.
at smileworks we are very proud of our prices because you get the best quality treatment at a price you can afford. this is an article about the cost of veneers. If you’d like to learn about veneers in general, take a look at our main veneers page.
A consultation is important if you are thinking about getting veneers. and I know what you’re thinking; ‘you just want me to come to the practice so you can sell me stuff, right?’ or you may be thinking ‘you don’t want to give me the price because you don’t want to scare me. because it’s going to be astronomical! well, neither is true.
the importance of a query
We will give you all the prices in this article and I promise they are not scary. if you’re someone who cares about how they look and values what we do here, then prices aren’t going to scare you at all.
The reasons you need to come in for a consultation really have nothing to do with price. they have more to do with the type of veneers you choose and whether veneers are the right treatment for you. it is very difficult to answer these questions over the phone or on a blog.
but we will do our best to do it here. so read on. these are the real reasons why you need to come:
You may not even need veneers!
You’d be surprised how many patients we see who think they need veneers. patients who come and realize that there are actually much simpler (and cheaper) ways to solve their aesthetic problems. To give you an example, some people have been told by their dentist that their teeth cannot be whitened with professional teeth whitening. they have been told they will need veneers. this could be the case, but did you know that there are special types of whitening procedures called “internal bleaching” that can whiten even non-vital gray teeth? You may also be much better off with solutions that are more functional than cosmetic, such as dental crowns and a dental bridge if there is significant damage to your teeth.
Also, there is a beautiful new aesthetic treatment that is taking the world by storm right now called composite bonding. This is a minimally invasive, super economical treatment that is performed in a single session that can be performed by dentists or dental hygiene therapists. it is about repairing small chips and cracks and not the entire face of the tooth. and at £100-200 per tooth, it’s no wonder this is one of our most popular treatments. for more information follow this link here: composite join.
Many people come to us thinking they need to spend thousands of dollars on veneers when, in fact, a simple teeth whitening treatment with a bit of composite can change your entire smile for the better. If you are interested in knowing how many ways there are to do a smile makeover in 2020, take a look here: smile makeovers. but telling someone they need to spend £4500 when they really only need to spend £400 is silly and here at smileworks we are smarter and have more tools available to make you happy.
and we care about you and hate that you go through life thinking “I need veneers to improve my life, but I can’t afford them” when in fact you can afford the right treatment that will improve your smile and It will fill you with confidence and bring you happiness. it is important to remember that you do not want veneers. nobody wants veneers. what you want is a beautiful smile, confidence, status among your peers, and most of all, happiness. And there are many significantly less expensive dental treatments that can give you all of those things, and more.
then this is the first reason you need to make an appointment with your dentist. you may not actually need what you think you need. the dentist is the only person who can make the proper diagnosis to tell you exactly what you need to make your smile beautiful. another less invasive alternative to veneers is invisalign® treatment. see our home page by following the links. We also have a specific article on the costs of invisalign® and invisible braces. you can read that here: cost of invisalign.

there are many different types of veneers
The other reason you need to make an appointment is that there are tons of different types of veneers, and we need to talk with you about which ones might be right for you.
again, you really can’t decide this unless you come in for one of our award-winning consultations. The information you receive from our team will change everything you know about veneers and make you feel smart, and possibly change your world for the better.
There are many different types of veneers and they all cost different amounts of money. We often tell people that veneers will cost you as much as you want, within reason. you can get sheets from ferrari or you can get sheets from ford. composite resin or a full smile makeover. the choice is entirely yours and our talented cosmetic dentists will guide you through the process of choosing the right fit for your needs.
Ferraris and Fords aside, you’ll see people strolling around Liverpool with the second-hand equivalent of a souped-up Opel Astra’s plates. you know the hideous white toilet bowl, massively conspicuous ridiculously white teeth. well, we don’t do that here at smileworks. this is a caring, responsible and down to earth environment and we won’t put terrible veneers in your mouth no matter how much you pay us.
In addition to the different costs for each type of sheet, you also have to think about the amount of work. if you only want one veneer, it will obviously be less expensive than the cost of a full set. And what is more; what condition your original teeth are in will affect things, as will the difference between new veneers or replacing existing ones.
So, once you’ve come in for your consultation and your dentist has helped you decide which veneers to choose, this is the cost range you’ll get here at smileworks. and maybe even get a result like this:
This is a really exciting experience and one that our patients talk about a lot in our reviews. We do the most complete evaluation with many photos, diagnoses and find out everything we can about your smile and how to improve it.
- you fill out some forms
- We talk with you for about an hour about the best treatment plan for you
- we print it and deliver it to you in a nice folder for you to take with you.
- You may have diagnostics or x-rays. all painless (and sometimes even fun because you can learn about your mouth in ways you never imagined. And it’s never as bad as you think!
- You leave happy, better informed and ready to choose what is best for you.
- Often, “special offers” are not what they seem. And deals that are too good to be true often are. This is complex dental work, and believe it or not, your dentist doesn’t make a huge profit on the work they do.
- Clients won’t be paying a huge amount for this type of work in 2020, and sadly, they shop around. therefore, dental practices tend to put lower prices online for patients to come to their practices. usually with free consultations. but practices like us, the real professionals, are efficient and charge for the consultation because it is one of the most important parts of getting the job done perfectly. you will not talk to someone who is not a dentist, you will find a team of attentive and responsible dentists waiting to advise you and answer all your questions, making the whole process run smoothly and giving you the information and tools you need to make a decision.
- composite union | £150-200
- porcelain veneers | £650-£950
- complete set of veneers | £3,600-25,000
cost of veneers in the uk – broken down
Composite veneers are less expensive than porcelain veneers because they are sculpted with a special composite resin in a single visit to the dentist. this is different from two or three visits and the expensive lab work required for porcelain.
Composites cost between £200 and £500 per tooth and last between 5 and 10 years. porcelain costs £650-1000 per tooth and lasts 10-25 years.
Composite veneers are veneers that are made from a paste that is hardened and polished by your dentist. Not all dentists do composite veneers because they are as much an art as they are a science. here at smileworks we use a fabulous product called renamel® that produces beautiful and realistic translucent results. but you don’t have to change the name if you don’t want to. we have other materials that are good for different reasons.
Composite veneers will cost you between £200 and £350 per tooth. this is a bit cheaper than its porcelain counterparts for good reason. Porcelain veneers are not manufactured by us.
They are made by our master potter in his elegant laboratory. so everything is done at home with composite veneers to make them less expensive. this does not mean that they are less good. in fact, that is far from the truth.
If you have cosmetic issues that need repair and your teeth are not severely damaged or worn down, then composite veneers are the best option. whether they will cost £150 or £200 depends on the size of the teeth. smaller tooth surfaces take up less composite and take less time for our dentists and therapists. so they are less expensive, and the beautiful results speak for themselves…
how much does a porcelain veneer cost?
Porcelain veneers cost between £650 and £950 per tooth. they are three times more expensive than composite veneers, but are often not three times as attractive. the reason they are more expensive is that they are made in a laboratory by a potter. he has his own tools, his own office, and his own things that he (or she, ours happens to be a he) uses to create beautifully translucent restorations. making veneers is pure talent and we have a large laboratory that gives us the best results. the difference in cost is simply that we have to pay you to do your job and this is factored into the cost you pay.
So, whether your veneers are emax or feldspathic porcelain, they’re made by someone else and that’s why they cost more. emax is super realistic and porcelain is super strong, that’s the only difference really. whether you get one or the other will be determined by your case, the color of the teeth underneath, the presence of any factors that require a specific material (for example, grinding teeth), and of course your preference.
the price of new versus replacement veneers?
New veneers should be critically evaluated. We work very hard to make sure they are the right choice for our patients. A mouthful of porcelain veneers can be great if you’re older, or your teeth are badly damaged, or you need to replace your old set.
However, for younger people, a new set of veneers means a lifetime investment. the average set of 6 front veneers in the life of a twentysomething can be considerable. veneers need to be replaced about three times (every 15 to 25 years, so the total lifetime investment is around £20,000). this allows for root canals when teeth erupt and any common problems associated with veneers.
In addition, you may need to replace your veneers with implants as you age and this can be a significant investment. For our younger patients, pre-print veneers or composite veneers cost less and are a much better option because they cause little or no damage to the underlying teeth.
what if I need a full game?
A full set of veneers costs between £3,600 and £10,000. how do we fix this? well, six cloves is usually £3,600. so if you want your ‘social six’ replaced with veneers this will be the approximate cost. but keep in mind that with a mouthful of veneers there are always things like root canals, periodontal appointments, and other work that may need to be done that can increase the price by 10% or so.
8 veneers cost around £4,800, 10 cost £6,000 and more than ten will cost over £10,000. there is a range of prices because you may need a combination of veneers and crowns. furthermore, when veneers are placed there is always the risk of damaging the underlying tooth.
This can mean root canals that increase the cost. you may also want additional cosmetic treatments. Crown lengthening is an excellent cosmetic treatment to perform at the same time as veneers. this is where the gums are reduced, giving you a “hollywood smile”.
It will also always be necessary to whiten the teeth before placing the veneers. veneers do not whiten like natural teeth. its shadow and brightness are fixed. therefore we require that patients whiten and get their natural teeth to the desired whiteness before placing the veneers.
can I get them financed?
So who has £6,000 in their bank accounts? not many people. so for those who don’t, there is financing. around 75% of smileworks patients prefer to pay with financing. smileworks offers the best 12-month interest-free dental financing and also 5-year loans at 9.9% interest for your dental treatment.
so there you have it. A detailed and uncomplicated evaluation of the cost of veneers at smileworks. we are not the cheapest. But if you’re looking at prices, be very careful for two reasons.
veneer prices in 2020:
veneer prices compared
so how do these prices compare to some of the big top competitors? The Harley Medical Group quotes porcelain veneers starting at £795 per tooth (but it’s usually more like £1,000 when you add it all up. The Liverpool Smile Studio here in Liverpool quotes prices starting at £389 for porcelain.
this is crazy and they are certainly more expensive than this, unless you get really cheap materials. tracey bell here in liverpool quotes porcelain veneers starting at £700 per tooth, more than the upper limit of many liverpool providers in 2020 here in liverpool.
However, many of the businesses you search for locally simply say “ask” instead of giving approximate prices. and I hope now you know the reasons for that. they think that once they get you in the door they can “sell you hard” or “sell you more.” We are professionals and what you see is what you get. that makes dentists and clients happy.
request veneers consultation
You can see an excellent price comparison on whatclinic’s list here. although many of the prices may not be up to date and it is always better to consult the individual website of each provider.
the danger of ‘cheap plates’
cheap cannot mean quality. the two things are opposite. so you can get a great deal, but your veneers will not look natural. besides, it is unlikely that you will be happy with them. then you have to remember that if they are between 20 and 30 years old, you will need to replace them.
they need to be replaced several times in life, so in the long run it will be much better to choose a quality supplier. If you’re interested in getting cheap veneers abroad, check out this extremely interesting account from some of our top cosmetic dentists on dental tourism.
To be frank, getting a better smile at any price is a bargain. if you think you’ll gain confidence and satisfaction from being able to smile again, then that truly is a priceless asset and is why we get out of bed in the morning and do these things for our patients.
